Archeologists in Franklin, home of THRN affiliate WAKM, are investigating the discovery of what appears to be human remains from the Civil War era. The remains were discovered in a construction site along Columbia Pike, across the street from Kneeling Electric Company. At first deemed a crime scene, the area has now been turned over to the state’s archeologists who believe the remains likely belong to a Union solider, killed in 1864. Franklin is home to many historically significant points of interest and has a rich history in the Civil War. Archeologists said there could be more soldiers buried in the area. All construction in the area has been stopped.
